Yangsan City in South Gyeongsang Province completed the 'Wondong District Local Water Supply Pipeline Construction (Section 1)' at the end of August 2025, establishing a foundation for stable water supply.
The 'Wondong District Local Water Supply Pipeline Construction (Section 1)' project began in December 2019 with a total project cost of 22.5 billion won. It involved the installation of 64 kilometers of water pipelines, two reservoirs, and eleven pumping stations in Hwaje-ri, Seoryong-ri, Won-ri, and Yongdang-ri. In October, a community briefing session will be held to explain the current status, discuss water supply construction methods, and proceed with the water supply works. Water supply is expected to be available from January 2026.
In addition to Section 1, construction on 'Wondong District Local Water Supply Pipeline Construction (Section 2)' began in July 2025, covering Yeongpo-ri and Naepo-ri in Wondong-myeon as the project area. The project is currently underway, aiming for completion in 2026 after going through administrative procedures such as waterworks business approval.
Mayor Na Dongyeon stated, "With the completion of Wondong District Local Water Supply Pipeline Construction (Section 1), we are now able to provide residents, who had been experiencing inconvenience due to groundwater depletion and contamination, with a stable and clean supply of tap water. Together with the ongoing Section 2 project, we will strive to ensure that all areas of Wondong-myeon are gradually supplied with local water."
