The Largest Local and Vintage Market in the Seoul Metropolitan Area to Be Held at Incheon Sangsang Platform on the 20th and 21st

150 Teams to Participate in Jemulpo Wave Market, Noodle Pop-up Store, and More

The largest local festival in the Seoul metropolitan area will be held in Incheon.

Incheon Metropolitan City and the Incheon Tourism Organization will host a large-scale local and vintage festival at the Incheon Port Sangsang Platform on September 20 and 21, featuring the Jemulpo Wave Market, Oh! Slow Market, and the Incheon Noodle Pop-up Store.

This event will be the largest since the opening of the Sangsang Platform, a multi-purpose cultural space, in July 2024. A total of 150 teams will participate, filling the entire 1,500-pyeong (approximately 4,950 square meters) space of the Sangsang Platform, making it a mega festival.

The Jemulpo Wave Market is an experiential pop-up event that discovers and supports local brands in Incheon. It has been held five times from last year until July 2024, attracting a cumulative total of about 102,000 visitors and establishing itself as Incheon's representative local festival. This year’s market will feature a variety of local brands, including Peace Korea, a stationery and lifestyle brand founded in Incheon in 1959, and Spectacle, a local magazine publisher, as well as many regional food and beverage, goods, accessories, fashion, and handicraft brands.

All event fixtures are made from eco-friendly materials. The Experience Zone will offer programs such as longboarding, wooden doll making, moss garden decorating, and keychain crafting. The Food Zone will showcase a diverse range of culinary options, including craft beer, specialty coffee, and bakery items.

Additional programs include DJ performances, a prize draw, and a purchase stamp collection event. From September 15 to 21, visitors who present receipts from purchases made in Jung-gu, Incheon, will receive extra benefits, encouraging spending at the event and revitalizing the local commercial district.

At the Sangsang Platform Deck Zone, the "Noodle Pop-up Store" will introduce the history of Incheon’s signature dishes, Jajangmyeon and Jjolmyeon. The renowned Chinatown Chinese restaurant Yeongyeong and Kwangsin Noodle Factory, the creator of Jjolmyeon, will participate with sales and special events. Visitors can collect noodle stamps in the exhibition, experience, and event zones to win prizes such as meal vouchers for Jajangmyeon and Jjolmyeon, as well as Ganghwa Island rice ramen.

The lounge will host "Oh! Slow Market," the largest vintage market in Korea. Eighty teams of sellers will present rare and unique items, and there will also be an analog snap photo zone and guided walking tours of the port opening area.

Baek Hyun, President of the Incheon Tourism Organization, stated, "This event is a mega festival where visitors can experience local brands, vintage culture, and Incheon’s signature foods all in one place. As the largest market in the metropolitan area, it will invigorate the old downtown and widely promote the charms of Incheon tourism."
