Creating a Space for AI Learning Together with the Local Community
Korea Polytechnic University is introducing an AI hands-on training program for residents of Siheung, Gyeonggi Province. From September 10 to September 30, the university will hold a total of four special lectures under the title "AI Expert Local Citizen Course," offering practice-oriented education using generative AI and automation tools.

This program is hosted by the Korea Polytechnic University Lifelong Education Center. The lectures will take place on September 10, 17, 23, and 30, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., for a total of 90 minutes each, in Room 208 of the Second Dormitory PBL Classroom at Korea Polytechnic University.
The lectures will be led by Na Youngdon, a distinguished professor at Seoul National University of Science and Technology and former head of the Korea Employment Information Service under the Ministry of Employment and Labor. The program is open to Siheung residents and local employees.
The curriculum will focus on hands-on training with cutting-edge generative AI tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, as well as next-generation tools like Perplexity and Gamma. Participants will experience each stage of practical work, from developing problem-solving plans and verifying data to creating web pages for presentations and completing AI automation workflows.
Korea Polytechnic University stated, "This program has been designed to reflect the unique characteristics of Siheung as an industrial complex and multicultural area. By spreading AI literacy, we aim to lay the foundation for citizens to understand and utilize technology, which is expected to drive innovation throughout the local community."
The university added, "We plan to continue expanding community-based AI education in the future, contributing to Siheung’s emergence as a leading 'AI citizen city.'"
