The new Dongjak District Office building, with a total floor area of 44,672 square meters and spanning three basement levels and ten above-ground floors, is the nation’s first “government-commercial complex office building,” combining administrative and commercial facilities. The first basement and ground floors house retail stores and a food court, while floors two through ten accommodate 41 departments, including an integrated civil service office.
Inside the building, a massive 15-meter-high slide, tentatively named D-Lide, has been installed. This experiential art installation can be enjoyed by both children and adults, and it transforms into a Christmas tree during the winter season.
During the commemorative ceremony, attendees looked back on the history of the Dongjak District Office from its opening in 1980 to the construction of the new building through a video presentation. This was followed by a video and laser performance that officially unveiled the district’s new CI and its future vision: “Dongjak, the World’s Most Proud and Happiest City!”
More than 400 people attended the event, including Park Ilha, mayor of Dongjak District, Oh Sehoon, mayor of Seoul, as well as members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, heads of related organizations, and local residents.
Park Ilha, mayor of Dongjak District, stated, “The opening of the new district office marks a new milestone in Dongjak’s 45-year history and will serve as a starting point for Seoul’s future,” adding, “Together with our residents, we will make Dongjak the world’s most proud and happiest city.”
