Boryeong Beach Barefoot Walking Festival Draws 100,000 Participants

Against the backdrop of the autumn sea, over 100,000 people walked barefoot along the beach. The "2025 Boryeong Beach Barefoot Walking Festival," held at Daecheon Beach in Boryeong, concluded successfully amid enthusiastic participation from both residents and tourists.

The city of Boryeong in South Chungcheong Province announced on September 8 that a total of 106,916 people took part in the festival, which was held from September 5 to 7 at the Mud Plaza and along the beach at Daecheon Beach.

During the festival, participants walked together along the shoreline, experiencing health and healing, while families, couples, and friends enjoyed the autumn seaside atmosphere and created lasting memories.

The festival featured a variety of programs, including a beach sand playground, a large-scale barefoot photo zone, a mobile health promotion center, and a healing physical therapy experience center, all of which received a positive response. The event has been recognized as having evolved beyond a simple walking activity into a full-fledged marine tourism festival.

Additionally, walking instructors from the public health center and members of local walking clubs participated to promote a healthy walking culture. The "Geokjyu" mobile app stamp challenge provided participants with mobile coupons, adding an element of fun and a sense of achievement.

The city also prioritized safety and convenience. Safety personnel were stationed throughout the beach and a medical support system was in operation. Shower facilities and storage lockers were opened free of charge, increasing visitor satisfaction.

Mayor Kim Dongil stated, "The Barefoot Walking Festival has established itself as a meaningful event where citizens and tourists can enjoy themselves while also caring for their health. We will continue to develop Daecheon Beach into a premier year-round tourist destination."
