Samcheok City in Gangwon Province announced on September 8 that it will hold the 'Samcheok Miro-myeon Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site Academic Conference' at 2 p.m. on September 12 in the auditorium of the Samcheok Cultural Center.
This academic conference has been organized to share the results of previous academic research on the Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site in Miro-myeon, Samcheok, and to discuss its historical value as well as strategies for preservation and utilization.
The Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site in Miro-myeon, Samcheok, operated from the late Goryeo to the early Joseon Dynasty. During a recent surface survey, a large number of celadon bowls, plates, and cups were unearthed, and remains such as kiln walls and fireboxes were also identified.
The conference will feature the following presentations: ▲Report on the academic research results of the Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site (Lee Kyunggi, Head of Academic Planning Team, Gangwon Institute of History and Culture) ▲The nature and value of Samcheok's ceramic culture (Kim Byungwook, Expert Member, Provincial Cultural Heritage Committee) ▲Plans for the preservation and utilization of the Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site (Shim Junyong, former Director, A&A Cultural Research Institute). Afterwards, Kim Taehong (Head of Research, Chungbuk Institute of History and Culture), Jung Dooseop (Director, Yanggu White Porcelain Museum), and Shin Mincheol (Curator, National Cheongju Museum) will participate as panelists to share their perspectives.
A city official stated, "Through this academic conference, we aim to widely promote the historical and cultural value of the Samcheok Sadunri Celadon Kiln Site and to establish systematic plans for its preservation and utilization."
