Starbucks Announces Open Recruitment for Baristas in the Second Half of the Year

Choose from Three Work Schedules: 25 Hours, 15 Hours per Week, and More
Staggered Start Dates Begin October 20

Starbucks Korea announced on September 7 that it is accepting applications for its open recruitment of baristas who will work at Starbucks stores nationwide until September 14.


For this second half barista recruitment, anyone aged 18 or older can apply regardless of gender, educational background, or disability status through the online application site. After document screening and interviews, successful candidates will begin working at Starbucks stores across the country in stages starting from October 20. There will also be future promotion opportunities to store management positions such as supervisor, assistant store manager, and store manager.


Applicants can choose from three types of work schedules: five hours per day, 25 hours per week (including weekends); three hours per day, 15 hours per week (including weekends); or eight hours per day, 16 hours per week (weekends only), according to their preferred conditions.

Starbucks baristas are eligible for a wide range of employee benefits, including bonuses paid twice a year during holidays, semi-annual performance incentives, annual and special leave, discounts at Starbucks and group affiliates, a one-year anniversary bonus, long-service awards, discounts on affiliated resorts, the four major social insurances and medical expense support, birthday cakes, partner coffee beans, and educational support for children.


Through a bachelor's degree program in partnership with Hanyang Cyber University, Starbucks supports employees in obtaining a four-year bachelor's degree. All tuition fees are covered for the first semester, and from the second semester onward, full tuition is provided for those who maintain an average grade of B or higher.


Park Chanho, head of human resources planning at Starbucks, stated, "Through active recruitment, we are creating opportunities for baristas with potential talent to pursue their dreams and striving to make a positive impact on customers and local communities. We will continue to support baristas so they can grow in a more stable environment, based on open and non-discriminatory hiring."


Meanwhile, Starbucks is also conducting barista recruitment in the second half of this year specifically for young national merit recipients, descendants of national merit recipients, and soon-to-be graduates of specialized high schools who aspire to become baristas. Since 2016, a total of 527 specialized high school students have joined Starbucks as baristas.
