MOLIT: "Complete Suspension of Yongin Light Rail Due to Signal Disruption... Thorough Investigation Underway"

In the early hours of September 7, a signal disruption occurred on the Yongin Light Rail Transit, resulting in a complete suspension of operations across all sections. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport responded urgently, initiating recovery efforts and an investigation into the cause.

According to the Ministry, at approximately 2:16 a.m. on the same day, a signal disruption believed to be caused by issues with the train control and database servers occurred on the Yongin Light Rail Transit. The Ministry dispatched the Director of Railway Safety Policy, inspectors, and examiners from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority to the site, and established a Railway Safety Situation Room to support the recovery process.

However, as of 12:00 p.m., service at all stations remains suspended. The operator has advised passengers via its official website and other channels to use alternative transportation.

Jung Eekyung, Director of Railway Safety Policy at the Ministry, stated, "We will pool the expertise of relevant professionals to restore operations as quickly as possible and thoroughly investigate the cause of the disruption. If any violations of railway safety regulations are identified, corrective measures or administrative actions will be taken."
