Watching a Movie and Taking Selfies with Over 30 Children
A Modern Interpretation of Jesus' Teachings Based on a Novel by Charles Dickens
Deputy Presidential Spokesperson An Gwiryeong announced that President Lee Jaemyung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung watched the Korean animated film "The King of Kings" with about 30 children from Yeongnak Borinwon at a movie theater in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of September 6.
"The King of Kings" is a work that reinterprets the life and teachings of Jesus Christ with a modern sensibility, based on Charles Dickens' novel "The Life of Our Lord."
In a written briefing, Deputy Spokesperson An stated, "Before the movie screening, President Lee and First Lady Kim took time to have a conversation with the children," adding, "The children expressed their excitement, saying they were really looking forward to watching the movie with the President."
An explained that the President and First Lady, along with the children, shared laughter as they asked candid and playful questions, such as which characters they liked and what kind of popcorn they preferred.
After watching the movie together while sharing popcorn, President Lee and the First Lady asked the children if they enjoyed the film and took selfies with each of them. President Lee said, "I hope this will be a valuable experience for the children, not just as a movie screening, but as an opportunity to feel that they are respected and loved."
