A New Milestone for Gimcheon on Its Path to Becoming an Eco-Friendly City
The Gimcheon City Saemaeul Association in North Gyeongsang Province successfully concluded the "2025 Saemaeul Environment Festa" on September 6 at Ansan Park in Yulgok-dong, with the participation of over 1,000 citizens.
Nakho Bae, mayor of Gimcheon City, is delivering a greeting at the Saemaeul Association 2025 Saemaeul Environment Festa.
This event was organized to commemorate "World Resource Circulation Day," and shared the core values of the Saemaeul Movement-practicing carbon neutrality and spreading a culture of resource circulation-with the citizens. The event was further enriched by the attendance of Nakho Bae, Mayor of Gimcheon, city and provincial council members, and various local figures.
The environmental festival, filled with hands-on experiences and participatory programs, featured a children's drawing contest, environmental protection experience booths, eco-friendly games, and busking performances, offering enjoyment for all ages. Families who visited the venue learned about and experienced the value of the environment with their children, personally understanding the importance of green practices.
Chairman Deoksoo Kim stated, "Thanks to the citizens and Saemaeul members who participated despite the hot weather, the event was a great success," and added, "We will continue to further expand the movement for resource circulation and environmental protection."
Mayor Nakho Bae emphasized, "Protecting the environment does not start with grand slogans, but with small actions," and stated, "When each and every citizen practices environmental protection in their daily lives, Gimcheon will grow into a sustainable green city."
This "Saemaeul Environment Festa" transformed the contemporary challenge of environmental protection into a citizen-participatory festival. In particular, hands-on experiences with children highlighted the significance of "passing on environmental values to the next generation," and it is being evaluated as a new milestone in Gimcheon's journey toward becoming an eco-friendly city.
