Cheon Beomsan, President-Designate of Chungbuk Provincial University

With Choi Gyojin, Superintendent of Education for Sejong City, having resigned on September 2 after being nominated as Deputy Prime Minister for Social Affairs and Minister of Education, Cheon Beomsan, the current Deputy Superintendent serving as acting superintendent, has been nominated as the 9th President of Chungbuk Provincial University.

With Cheon Beomsan's nomination as president, the Sejong Office of Education will once again operate under an acting superintendent system.

Cheon Beomsan, the nominee, is a native of Okcheon County in North Chungcheong Province and a graduate of Okcheon High School. He began his public service career in 1987. He is recognized as an education expert with extensive experience across education policy, having served as Director of Local Education Finance at the Ministry of Education, Director General for Education Jobs, Secretary General of Kongju National University, and Deputy Superintendent of North Chungcheong Provincial Office of Education.

Previously, on August 28, the Presidential Nomination Committee of Chungbuk Provincial University evaluated presentations from 12 candidates and recommended Cheon Beomsan and Kim Taeyoung to North Chungcheong Province Governor Kim Younghwan. Cheon Beomsan is expected to officially take office after a background check, no later than next month.
