Kyuwhan Park Appointed as Acting Chairman of Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Committee

The Democratic Party has appointed Kyuwhan Park, the regional chairman for Yeongju, Yeongyang, and Bonghwa, as the acting chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee to fill the organizational gap.

On September 5, during its 155th Supreme Council meeting, the Democratic Party announced, "Due to the vacancy caused by the by-election for the Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee chairman, Kyuwhan Park has been appointed as acting chairman." Park's term as acting chairman will continue until a new provincial chairman is elected in the by-election at the end of September.

Kyuwhan Park is currently also serving as the Democratic Party's central spokesperson and is widely recognized in the education sector as the most popular essay instructor in Daechi-dong. Having built his reputation in youth education as an invited professor at Soongsil University and as the lead instructor at Eureka Essay and Essay Idea, he entered the political arena last year by running as the Democratic Party candidate for Yeongju, Yeongyang, and Bonghwa in the 22nd general election.

Both inside and outside political circles, there is a consensus that Park's appointment as acting chairman will inject new energy into the provincial committee, thanks to his experience across education, media, and politics. It is also seen as a test of the Democratic Party Gyeongbuk Provincial Committee's reorganization ahead of next year's general election. The Democratic Party plans to elect a new Gyeongbuk Provincial Party Committee chairman through a by-election at the end of next month, thereby fully transitioning into election mode.
