The People Power Party criticized the prosecution reform led by the Democratic Party of Korea, claiming it is a system overhaul intended to shield the administration.

On September 6, Park Junghoon, the chief spokesperson of the People Power Party, commented on the prosecution reform legislative hearing held by the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee the previous day, stating, "The Democratic Party's prosecution reform is not for the people, but rather a political show to shield President Lee Jaemyung," and expressed this criticism.
Chief spokesperson Park criticized, "The hearing, which should have discussed key issues such as the abolition of the prosecution and the establishment of the Major Crime Investigation Agency, was instead filled with witnesses and remarks denouncing the prosecution's investigation into President Lee Jaemyung's alleged illegal remittances to North Korea as fabrication."
He further emphasized, "Rushing through such a major issue that shakes the criminal justice system for the ruling party's political interests is a clear betrayal of the people," and added, "If you want to talk about reform, the Democratic Party must first abandon its instinct to shield itself."
Additionally, Chief spokesperson Park pointed out, "While the Democratic Party insists on dismantling the prosecution, which holds unchecked investigative and prosecutorial powers, it is contradictorily granting both investigative and prosecutorial authority to the three major special prosecutors and the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials," and criticized, "This reveals an intention to create investigative agencies under the Democratic Party's command to use them for political retaliation and oppression of the opposition."
He stated, "We will never tolerate any attempt to pass legislation that shields the administration while ignoring the people," and added, "We will make every effort to block the amendment to the Government Organization Act that irresponsibly seeks to abolish the prosecution."
