Meghan Markle Launches Clothing Affiliate Page,
Then Abruptly Deactivates Site
Meghan Markle, wife of Prince Harry, the second son of King Charles III of the United Kingdom, ventured into the clothing business but abruptly shut it down. In March, Markle launched her own page on ShopMy, a partnership marketing platform for influencers. ShopMy allows creators such as influencers and bloggers to create their own digital shops, recommend products, and earn commissions when purchases are made through their links.

According to the New York Post on September 3 (local time), Meghan has removed all products from her ShopMy page, which was linked to her Instagram account. The Meghan Markle section on ShopMy was launched around the same time as the Netflix series "With Love, Meghan," which was released in March. Previously, the page featured a description stating, "A curated collection of things I love," and mentioned that Markle would receive a commission from sales made through the platform.
On Markle's ShopMy page, products such as designer linen shirts, sweaters, sunglasses, and handbags were introduced. The prices varied, but most items were expensive, including a dress costing around 2 million won and worker pants priced in the 600,000 won range. A stone necklace worth about 700,000 won, created in collaboration with actress Abigail Spencer, was also available for sale.
The site previously listed her royal title, "Meghan, Duchess of Sussex," which led to criticism from some quarters that she was "commercializing the British royal family."
However, not all reactions were negative. One fan commented, "It is a very wise decision for Meghan to directly provide information about the clothes she wears," adding, "She can collaborate with brands by leveraging her many followers." Another fan said, "I have been waiting for Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, to finally start this."
In an interview with Bloomberg last week, Markle mentioned that she was providing links through ShopMy so that fans could easily find the clothes she wears and the products she uses. Markle said, "From my perspective, posting ShopMy on Instagram was an interesting exploration," adding, "I was able to introduce actual brands and help people find items to replicate my style if they wanted." She also revealed that she plans to share links to her favorite outfits, including those worn in her Netflix series.
Meghan Markle, who gained popularity through the hit American drama "Suits," married Prince Harry in 2018. The following year, they welcomed their son Archie, and in 2021, their daughter Lilibet Diana was born. Recently, Markle participated as both producer and cast member in the Netflix reality program "With Love, Meghan."
