On September 5, L&K Biomed announced that it will carry out a scholarship program for the advancement of science in South Korea, in collaboration with its sponsoring organization, the Science Hall Foundation.
The Science Hall Foundation has decided to strengthen its youth science talent development program in the second half of this year. Together with L&K Biomed, it has launched a new scholarship initiative. This scholarship program will be operated in conjunction with the "Youth Science Audition," which has been held since 2023. The top prize winner will receive a scholarship worth 1.5 million won annually until the age of 18, and two excellence award winners will each receive a scholarship worth 1 million won annually until the age of 18.
The Science Hall Foundation, in cooperation with the Korea School Invention Association, has established a new "Science Club Research Presentation" aimed at supporting underprivileged youth. L&K Biomed plans to sponsor scholarships worth 1.5 million won for this initiative.
The Science Hall Foundation will also expand its ▲ Distinguished Scholar Mentoring Program ▲ International training programs such as visits to the Nobel Foundation in Sweden ▲ Metaverse initiatives ▲ and the establishment of the Sejong Science Award. At a time when the value of artificial intelligence (AI) and the Korean language is being highlighted, the Sejong Science Award was established to honor the achievements of King Sejong and to promote the advancement of science in South Korea.
Winners will be selected in two categories among physics, chemistry, life sciences, physiology, and medicine, and each of the two recipients will receive a prize of 100 million won. KAIST Honorary Professor Youlryung, who has been mentioned as a Nobel Prize candidate, will serve as the head of the judging panel.
Park Kyutaek, Chairman of the Science Hall Foundation, stated, "Unlike existing science awards for renowned scholars, this award primarily targets emerging scientists in their 30s and early 40s," adding, "Our goal is to develop it into a prestigious award that could serve as a stepping stone to the Nobel Prize in science."
A representative from L&K Biomed explained, "Science and technology are the driving forces behind the sustainable development of our society," and added, "We aim to support young scientific talents so that they can continue their challenging research and studies, ultimately helping them grow into scientists who will represent the future of South Korea."
