Koscom and Employees' Families Volunteer at Myeongwol Village

Koscom visited Myeongwol Village in Chuncheon, Gangwon Province on the 23rd of last month to carry out a volunteer activity with employees' families. A total of about 40 people from 15 families, including employees, their spouses, and children, participated in the event. They worked alongside village residents, helping to alleviate the labor shortage during the busy farming season.

On this day, Koscom employees actively participated in various farming tasks, including harvesting chili peppers, to support the rural workforce. In particular, the children who joined the volunteer activity took part in a variety of hands-on events, learning about rural culture that is not easily accessible in everyday life, and enjoying a unique experience in nature.

This initiative was planned to address the labor shortage in Myeongwol Village, which has a "one company, one village" partnership with Koscom. At the same time, it aimed to enhance employee satisfaction and strengthen family bonds through a social contribution activity involving employees' families.

Kim Myunggyun, head of Koscom's Win-Win Cooperation Team, said, "We designed this program so that we could support farms in need of labor and allow all employees and their families to learn the value of volunteering and sharing together. Going forward, we will continue to spread a culture of sharing and mutual growth through various social contribution activities that promote love for rural communities and our neighbors."

Participating employees and their families also shared their meaningful impressions. Shin Jiseon, manager of the Management Support Department, who volunteered with her child, said, "By working in the fields and experiencing farm work with my children, we were able to have a valuable experience that is hard to come by in the city. It was even more meaningful because I could naturally teach my children the importance of sharing."

Since 2011, Koscom has maintained a partnership with Myeongwol Village, engaging in a variety of activities such as helping with farm work, purchasing village agricultural products and donating to welfare facilities, and providing scholarships to multicultural and low-income families in the village.
