The Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center announced on September 5 that it will conduct safety education and free inspections over two days, from the 17th to the 18th, to prevent safety accidents related to brush cutters during grave clearing work ahead of the Chuseok holiday.

This training will be provided to 100 citizens who own brush cutters, with applications accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the 12th. Interested individuals should apply to the Agricultural Machinery Team at the Agricultural Technology Center.

The safety education will focus on essential safety rules for using brush cutters, including: wearing protective equipment such as face shields, safety glasses, and safety shoes; attaching protective covers; prohibiting access within a 15-meter radius of the work area; and following the correct order of operations.

An expert will also provide free inspections of brush cutter equipment. The inspection will cover the starting and operating condition, safety devices such as protective covers, and the fastening status of the cutting blade and drive parts. The goal is to prevent accidents caused by malfunctions and to promote efficient equipment use.

In particular, the program will share common accident cases that frequently occur during brush cutter use, aiming to deliver practical, prevention-focused training. The city expects that this education will help reduce safety accidents during grave clearing and contribute to protecting the lives and safety of its citizens.

Kim Sira, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Brush cutters are equipment where even a moment of carelessness can lead to serious accidents. It is important to strictly follow safety rules and make wearing protective gear a habit," urging citizens to actively participate.
