Gwangsan District in Gwangju will once again hold the "Sangsaeng Gwangsan Market" this year to help local social economy enterprises expand their sales channels.
On September 5, the district announced that the first market will be held in front of the Cheomdan LC Tower, and that a total of ten markets will be operated through November. Products from social economy enterprises, such as metal crafts, pet supplies, and decorations, will be sold at the market. There will also be hands-on activities, including making air fresheners and tarot card readings.
The market will continue at various locations: Cheomdan LC Tower (September 19, October 24), Cheomdan General Social Welfare Center (September 11, October 16, October 30), and the plaza at Lotte Outlet Gwangju Suwan Branch (September 27 and 28, November 8 and 9).
The district will also host a receipt event in cooperation with the Social Enterprise Growth Support Center. Customers who spend over 30,000 won at the market will receive gifts such as a folding umbrella or a set of traditional sweets, while those who spend over 50,000 won can receive an insulated bag, Gim Bugak, or a set of traditional sweets.
In addition, there will be promotional booths for local economic revitalization support organizations, such as the Gwangsan District Business Doctor Center and the Gwangju Social Economy Support Center, as well as performances for residents. At the first market, singers Yubara and Gil Eunmi performed street concerts.
A district official stated, "The 'Sangsaeng Gwangsan Market' is a venue where local social economy enterprises, small business owners, and citizens can come together to share and spread the value of the local economy and society. We hope for the interest and participation of many citizens."
