Samcheok City in Gangwon Province announced on September 4 that it will reorganize the members of the 'Samcheok City Youth Support Council,' which is currently operated to review and advise on major youth policy matters, as the current members' terms are set to expire.
As the terms of the current council members will expire on October 11, the city plans to newly form the council and operate it for two years, from October 12, 2025, to October 11, 2027.
The council will be composed of up to 15 members, including 5 ex officio members (public officials at the level of department head or higher from relevant departments) and 10 appointed members. The appointed members will include: ▲ city council members recommended by the Samcheok City Council ▲ individuals with experience in youth or women's organizations ▲ those with academic knowledge or expertise related to youth policy ▲ and other individuals deemed suitable for promoting youth policies.
This reorganization will include an open recruitment for 5 youth members. The recruitment fields are: △ employment △ housing △ education △ welfare and culture △ participation and rights, totaling five areas. Eligible applicants are young people aged 18 to 49 who reside in Samcheok City. Those with experience in youth organizations, expertise in youth policy, or social contribution activities are encouraged to apply.
The open recruitment for youth members will take place from September 5 to September 19. Applications can be submitted in person to the Youth Support Team of the Economic Affairs Division at Samcheok City Hall, or by sending the required documents via registered mail after referring to the Samcheok City website. After document review and evaluation, the final members will be selected and appointment letters will be awarded in early October.
An official from Samcheok City stated, "We are conducting an open recruitment for youth members to actively reflect the voices of young people in municipal administration," adding, "We will gather diverse opinions and work to implement practical policies so that young people can actively participate in the development of the local community."
