Gokseong County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae) announced on September 4 that it promoted the sale of lots in the Ungok Specialized Agricultural and Industrial Complex at the 25th Daegu International Food Industry Exhibition, the largest food expo in the Daegu and North Gyeongsang region, held on September 3.

The 25th Daegu International Food Industry Exhibition, hosted by Daegu City and organized by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), is being held at Daegu EXCO for four days until September 6. The event features domestic processed foods, alcoholic beverages, coffee pavilions, as well as kitchenware and food machinery exhibition halls, aiming to support food industry exports and expand food industry infrastructure.

At this expo, the county highlighted the logistics and transportation advantages of the industrial complex, which is located just two minutes from Okgwa Interchange on the Honam Expressway. It especially promoted the fact that over two million people, including residents of Gwangju, live within an hour's distance, that food raw materials can be sourced from the pristine environment of South Jeolla Province, that there are ample sales channels for products produced in the complex, and that it is easy to secure a young and highly skilled workforce specialized in related manufacturing industries.

In addition, the county introduced various incentives for companies that invest at least 2 billion KRW and employ at least 10 people on a regular basis, and that have signed investment agreements with South Jeolla Province. These include: subsidies of up to 15% (maximum 35%) of facility investment costs for new or expanded investments from other metropolitan cities or provinces; up to 5 billion KRW in site subsidies; up to 5 billion KRW in facility subsidies; up to 1 billion KRW in employment and training subsidies; and up to 300 million KRW in subsidies for improving work-life conditions.

Since the announcement of the lot sale in April, the county has sent promotional materials to food companies in North Jeolla Province and Gwangju, participated in various domestic food-related expos (such as the Korea Beer Expo at COEX in Seoul, the International Food Expo at BEXCO in Busan, and the International Food Industry Exhibition at KINTEX in Goyang), and actively promoted the lot sales. The county also operated its own promotional booths at the 15th Gokseong World Rose Festival and the 2025 Gwangju Food Expo to raise awareness of the industrial complex.

The Ungok Specialized Agricultural and Industrial Complex is being developed on a 106,539-square-meter site in Ungok-ri, Osan-myeon. With construction currently 65% complete, the county aims to finish all 25 lots in the first half of next year. Of these, 20 lots are designated for food manufacturing, 3 lots for electronic components, computer and communications equipment manufacturing, and 2 lots for electrical equipment manufacturing.
