Promotion of Community-Based Projects
Including "Safe Hospital Companion Care"
Mokpo City in South Jeolla Province finalized its "2026 Hometown Love Fund Projects" at the Hometown Love Fund Management Deliberation Committee meeting held on September 2.
The city announced on September 4 that in July, it solicited project ideas from citizens, and the submitted proposals were finalized through a preliminary review and a donor preference survey, followed by committee deliberation.
The selected projects will be officially launched in January next year after review by the city council. The seven finalized projects include six new initiatives: Safe Hospital Companion Care for Hometown Parents, Happy Table for All, Shelter for Female Victims of Violence, Free Pertussis Vaccination Support for Pregnant Women, Support for Veterans' Winter Hats, and Support Packages for Adopting Abandoned Animals. In addition, one ongoing project, Educational Support for Self-Reliant Youth, was also confirmed.
In particular, the Safe Hospital Companion Care for Hometown Parents project, which ranked first in the donor preference survey, provides transportation and companion support for elderly residents who have difficulty accessing medical care. The initiative, based on the idea of "protecting parents' health through donations," resonated with many people.
A city official stated, "We will continue to transparently operate and develop community-based projects so that donors' intentions lead to positive changes in the local community."
Meanwhile, the city is currently operating five fund projects, including Educational Support for Self-Reliant Youth, Study Room Creation for Group Homes, and the Beginner Parent Escape Project.
