On September 4, the Cement Industry Social Contribution Foundation announced that it had delivered 60,000 bottles of drinking water, worth approximately 20 million won, to Gangneung City Hall. The donated water will be distributed first to rural areas and vulnerable households most affected by the drought.

Recently, due to a lack of rainfall, Gangneung City began implementing water restrictions, shutting off 75% of water meters. As a result, an increasing number of villages are relying on water delivery trucks. In response, the foundation and Halla Cement decided to provide swift support to help the local community overcome these hardships.

Shim Yongsuk, Secretary General of the foundation, stated, "Since the foundation was established to promote the welfare and stability of residents living near cement plants, responding quickly in times of crisis aligns with our founding purpose. We will continue to cooperate with the local community to carry out timely and diverse social contribution activities."

Halla Cement, a local company headquartered in Gangneung and a supporter of the foundation, also participated in this water relief effort. Hwang Soongu, Head of Halla Cement, said, "We hope to overcome the difficulties faced by Gangneung residents together and, as a local company, take this opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to social responsibility through ongoing community contribution activities."

In addition to this emergency support, the foundation plans to further expand various support projects aimed at improving the safety, welfare, and sustainable development of residents living near cement plants in Gangneung, as well as in Danyang, Donghae, Samcheok, Yeongwol, and Jecheon.
