AI Mayor Introduces Investment Environment and Joins Panel Discussions
On September 3, at the Courtyard by Marriott Pyeongtaek in Godeok-myeon, Pyeongtaek City, Gyeonggi Province, an unfamiliar female mayor appeared in place of Mayor Jung Jangsun at the city’s advanced strategic industry forum, "PATH 2025 (Pyeongtaek Advanced Technology Hub)."

During the forum, the mayor shared the city’s vision for advanced strategic industries, including artificial intelligence (AI), and introduced major projects such as Brain City. She also participated in the main discussions, exchanging a variety of opinions with the panelists.
This figure was the "AI Mayor," created to embody Pyeongtaek City’s determination to become a global hub for advanced strategic industries such as AI, going beyond semiconductors. On this day, the city introduced the "AI Mayor" and presented an "interactive vision declaration performance" that combined an AI human with a large language model (LLM).
For the keynote speech, Choyongmin, CEO of Unbound Lab Dev, addressed the challenges of the AI era under the theme "AI That Laughs at Our Questions: What Should We Be Concerned About?" The panel discussion featured Lee Hakju, Director of the Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency, Kim Hyungtae, Professor at Sungkyunkwan University, and Yoon Ilgyu, Director at the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity.
In the subsequent expert session, Lee Hyunik, Associate Research Fellow at the Science and Technology Policy Institute, Jeon Sanghun, Professor at KAIST, and Shin Sanghun, Professor at Hanyang University ERICA Campus, discussed the direction of Korea’s and Pyeongtaek’s semiconductor industries and future strategies.

Lee Hakju, Director of the Pyeongtaek Industrial Promotion Agency, stated, "The inaugural PATH 2025 marks the starting point for Pyeongtaek City to announce both domestically and internationally its commitment to fostering AI and semiconductors as future strategic industries," adding, "We will continue to focus on industry-academia-research collaboration and talent development."
Mayor Jung Jangsun said, "Starting with PATH 2025, Pyeongtaek will move forward as a future strategic city with both AI and semiconductors as its two main pillars," and added, "We will continue to grow Pyeongtaek into a global advanced city through innovative policies that involve citizens, youth, and experts together."
