Jangseong County in South Jeolla Province announced on September 3 that it will provide emergency pesticide support to prevent anthracnose in fruit trees.
Anthracnose in fruit trees causes black spots and rotting of fruit, significantly reducing their market value. Once it occurs, it spreads rapidly, making proactive control measures crucial.
Previously, the county formed a Pest and Disease Control Countermeasures Committee, established a control plan, and completed a comprehensive survey, preparing early for pesticide support.
This emergency pesticide support targets local apple and persimmon farmers, covering 932 farms and 545 hectares. The pesticides will be distributed through local township administrative welfare centers.
County Governor Kim Hanjong emphasized, "Consistent monitoring of fruit trees and timely control are essential to prevent anthracnose and minimize damage," and urged, "We ask for active participation in the proactive emergency pesticide application."
