Xi Jinping: "China Will Always Be a Force Leading World Peace"
Kim Jong Un and Putin Enter Side by Side with President Xi
On September 3, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated, "China will always be a force leading world peace."
According to Reuters, President Xi made these remarks at a reception held to commemorate the 80th anniversary of China's Victory Day. President Xi emphasized, "Humanity must live in harmony on the same planet and must not return to the law of the jungle." He added, "We must always adhere to the path of peaceful development, firmly safeguard world peace and stability, and work together to build a community with a shared future for mankind."
North Korean State Affairs Commission Chairman Kim Jong Un entered the reception hall alongside President Xi and Russian President Vladimir Putin. President Xi stood in the center, with Chairman Kim and President Putin walking on either side of him. Kim Yo Jong, the deputy director of the Workers' Party and younger sister of Chairman Kim, also attended the reception. According to CNN, President Xi had lunch with the leaders of 26 countries at the event.
Earlier that morning, Chairman Kim and President Putin attended the Victory Day military parade held at Tiananmen in Beijing. Together with President Xi, Chairman Kim and President Putin stood on the rostrum, with President Xi in the center and the other two on either side. This marks the first time since the North Korea-Soviet Union-China summit held in Beijing in September 1959-66 years ago-and the first time since the end of the Cold War that the top leaders of North Korea, China, and Russia have appeared together at an official event.
