Exploring Win-Win Models Through

Joint Projects with Local Industries
Dong-Eui University of Science (President Kim Youngdo) held the '2025 DIT Open UIC Culture and Tourism Council' at The Party City Hall branch in Busan on August 27, where participants discussed strategies for advancing industry-academic cooperation in culture and tourism, linked to the local industry.

This event was organized as part of the Busan Regional Innovation-led University Support System (RISE) project, aiming to establish a collaborative network in the culture and tourism sector among academia, industry, and government.
Over 40 organizations participated in the council, including the Busanjin Cultural Foundation, the Small Enterprise and Market Service, the Korean Standards Association, as well as representatives from local industries and institutions.
At the opening ceremony, Kim Kyunghwa, head of the RISE project group at Dong-Eui University of Science, delivered a welcoming address and emphasized the commitment to building a cooperative network. This was followed by a keynote presentation from Deputy Director Kwon Yujeong, who provided a detailed overview of the current progress of the RISE project group and specific plans for operating the UIC in the culture and tourism sector going forward.
During the council, participants focused on topics such as joint projects based on the needs of local industries, customized talent development strategies for industry-academic cooperation, and convergence strategies for medical, beauty, childcare, and senior-friendly content. Practical ideas were shared to further develop models for mutual cooperation between the university and businesses, making the event a lively forum for exchanging opinions.
Jung Hangyeom, CEO of Human Balance, who attended the event, said, "It was meaningful because it provided a platform where voices from the field could be connected to policy," and added, "I hope to develop a sustainable wellness tourism model together with Dong-Eui University of Science."
Director Kim Kyunghwa stated, "The DIT Open UIC Culture and Tourism Council will serve as an important channel linking the university's specialized capabilities with the real needs of local industries," and added, "Through networking, joint research, and field training cooperation, we aim to foster a culture and tourism ecosystem that grows together with the region."
The RISE project group at Dong-Eui University of Science plans to expand UIC operations based on industry-academic cooperation tailored to local industries, with the goal of simultaneously achieving innovation in regional specialized industries and nurturing talent.
