Worker Dies After Fall at GS Engineering & Construction Apartment Site in Seongdong-gu

A worker died after falling at a GS Engineering & Construction apartment construction site in Seongdong-gu, Seoul.

According to fire authorities and other sources on September 3, a man in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, fell while installing formwork on the exterior wall on the 15th floor of an apartment construction site in Yongdap-dong, Seongdong-gu. Mr. A, a Chinese national, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest but was pronounced dead.

The police and the Ministry of Employment and Labor are currently investigating the accident site and those responsible for the site.

Previously, President Lee Jaemyung pointed out the recurring fatal accidents caused by industrial accidents and called for enhanced safety measures. Minister of Employment and Labor Kim Younghoon also stated that he would stake his position on reducing industrial accidents.

However, fatal accidents involving workers continue to occur at construction sites. The previous day, a worker in his 60s died after falling at a villa construction site in Bangbae-dong, Seocho-gu. On August 8, a worker in his 50s died after falling from a height of about six floors at a DL Engineering & Construction apartment construction site in Singok-dong, Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi Province.
