Jury to Evaluate Fourteen Major Asian Films
Director Na Hong-jin Leads Panel for the Newly Launched "Busan Award"
Balanced Assessment of Completeness, Artistic Contribution, and Potential of Asian Cinema
The Busan International Film Festival Organizing Committee announced the jury members for the newly established competition section, the "Busan Award," on September 3.
The jury is composed of directors, actors, and producers who represent Asian and global cinema. Participants include Hong Kong actor Tony Leung Chiu-wai, Indian actor and director Nandita Das, Iranian New Wave female director Marziyeh Meshkini, "Columbus" director Kogonada, Indonesian producer Yulia Evina Bhara, and actor Han Hyojoo.
Director Na Hong-jin will serve as the jury president, overseeing the evaluation of fourteen major Asian films. The festival organizers stated, "We plan to assess the works with a balanced focus on completeness, artistic contribution, and both the current state and potential for expansion of Asian cinema."
The Busan Award will be presented in five categories: Grand Prize, Best Director, Jury Special Award, Best Actor, and Artistic Contribution Award. The awards ceremony will be held during the closing ceremony. This year's festival will take place over ten days from September 17 to 26 at the Busan Cinema Center and its surrounding area.
