Five "Peacock: Restaurants Verified by Hyundai Card Payment Data" Products Launched

On September 3, Hyundai Card announced that it will introduce five new "Peacock: Restaurants Verified by Hyundai Card Payment Data" products in collaboration with Emart. Peacock is Emart's ready-to-eat meal brand that allows customers to easily enjoy restaurant-quality dishes at home.

The five new products feature signature menu items from three authentic restaurants in Seoul, identified using Hyundai Card’s payment data accumulated over two years from 2023 to the previous year.


Hyundai Card and Emart noted that the proliferation of social media and viral marketing has made it increasingly difficult to verify genuine quality restaurants.


The two companies decided to launch this project, believing that Hyundai Card’s payment data could be used to discover and verify truly outstanding restaurants.


The discovery and data verification of these restaurants were handled by Hyundai Card Data Lab. It took about one year and six months to develop the menus through the selection and verification process.


The selected restaurants are: "Hongbok," a Chinese restaurant with a 67-year tradition and the most popular spot among merchants at Namdaemun Market; "Ramura," a Japanese ramen shop in Seongsu-dong recently frequented by Millennials & Gen Z; and "Yakitori Pano," a Japanese-style skewers restaurant in Cheongdam-dong that ranked first in both spending and revisit rate among Hyundai Card premium members.


The product development process involved the restaurant owners, Peacock buyers, and chefs from Emart's "Secret Research Lab." The main products include Hongbok’s Yuni Jjajangmyeon and Yuringi, Ramura’s Black Ramen and Chicken Skin Gyoza, and five types of Tare Sauce from Yakitori Pano. Tare Sauce is Yakitori Pano’s signature sauce used for seasoning skewers.


The two companies are holding a launch event. Customers who purchase these products at Emart stores and accumulate Shinsegae Points can receive up to a 30% discount. An additional 20% discount is offered for payments made with Hyundai Card. There will also be a stamp event and photo verification event through the Emart application, where Peacock gift certificates will be awarded.


The products are available at Emart stores nationwide and on SSG.com. For more details, customers can check the Emart and Hyundai Card apps as well as the Emart website.


Meanwhile, the two companies have maintained a steady partnership since launching the "Emart e-Card" in 2015, which was the first private label credit card (PLCC) introduced by a Korean retailer and has issued over 1.6 million cards to date.


Notable collaborations include "Home Appliance Save," which allows customers to use points first when purchasing appliances and repay with points earned later, and the "Emart Pack" subscription service, offering up to 15,000 won in monthly benefits for a 3,900 won monthly fee. In 2021, the two companies also received positive customer response for developing "Jeongdeun Doenjang Ramen" in a meal kit format.
