Dongsik Park, Mayor of Sacheon, announced on September 3 that he held a meeting at Sacheon City Hall with Minwon Park, President of Changwon National University, to discuss concrete cooperation measures for the establishment of the Sacheon Aerospace Main Campus. The discussions included providing land for the campus and outlining a phased construction plan.
Sacheon City plans to provide a 46,935-square-meter site in Tongyang-ri, Yonghyeon-myeon, Sacheon as the campus location. Changwon National University intends to secure funding for the project by applying for national government financial support and aims to complete the campus in three phases.
In the first phase, an aerospace lecture hall will be constructed. The second phase will add a dormitory building, and the third phase will establish a comprehensive educational and research hub with a main building, gymnasium, and library.
Once the campus is completed, it is expected to accommodate a total of 210 students, including 160 undergraduates and 50 graduate students. It will serve as a key hub for systematically nurturing talent in the aerospace industry.
Sacheon City and Changwon National University expect this project to significantly enhance the competitiveness of local industries and contribute greatly to the advancement of the national aerospace industry.
Mayor Dongsik Park stated, "Sacheon City is focusing its administrative efforts on becoming a central city for the aerospace industry, where academia, industry, and research institutes are clustered. The beginning of this journey is the opening of the Changwon University Aerospace Campus."
