The joint meeting on regulatory improvement in the industrial sector has been held annually since the signing of the "Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Regulatory Improvement in Future New Industries of Gangwon Province" between the province and the Industry Ombudsman in 2023. This year marks the third year of the event.

Until now, the focus has mainly been on identifying regulations in the hydrogen industry. However, this year, the scope will be diversified to include various sectors such as: the future energy sector (relaxing standards for hydrogen-specialized companies, resolving capacity restrictions on liquefied hydrogen tank lorries); the future mobility sector (improving review procedures for advanced traffic safety facilities); and the information and communications technology (ICT) sector (improving systems related to data centers and promoting institutional improvements for beyond-visual-line-of-sight drone flights). Regulations in these diverse fields will be identified and discussed.

In particular, the future energy, future mobility, and ICT sectors are part of the "5+1 Advanced Strategic Industries" that Gangwon Province is focusing on to realize its vision as a future global industrial city. Through this joint meeting, it is expected that more effective regulatory improvement strategies will be established, contributing to the realization of a future global city.

Seo Gunhee, Director of Regulatory Innovation at Gangwon Province, stated, "Through this joint meeting, we were able to hear a variety of vivid voices from the field. Above all, by gathering opinions from the Industry Ombudsman, officials from the province and cities and counties, and experts, we expect to develop effective regulatory improvement strategies." He added, "We will make every effort to ensure that the matters discussed today lead to regulatory improvements and the revitalization of future new industries in Gangwon Province."
