Policy Forum Held on Establishing Integrated Services for Daejeon-Style Senior Residential Welfare Housing
Lee Hanyoung, a member of the Daejeon City Council from the People Power Party representing Seo-gu District 6, emphasized, "In a super-aged society, welfare housing that combines residential and care services is a key agenda to ensure a dignified life for the elderly."
On September 2, at the City Council Communication Room, Assemblyman Lee made this statement during the policy forum titled "Establishing Integrated Services for Daejeon-Style Senior Residential Welfare Housing."
This forum was jointly organized by the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute and the Daejeon Council for Sustainable Development. It was held to examine housing issues for the elderly as Daejeon enters a super-aged society and to explore a Daejeon-style residential welfare model that integrates housing and care services.
Yang Sungwook, Senior Research Fellow at the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute, delivered the keynote presentation. Based on a survey on perceptions of housing support for the elderly, he proposed directions for introducing senior welfare housing in Daejeon.
He stressed that housing policies for the elderly should go beyond simply providing homes and should expand to integrated welfare housing that combines services. He identified the need to establish a legal foundation to support this, supplement and promote existing policies, and improve the service support system as key tasks.
Following this, Ahn Eunsun, head of the Integrated Care Project Team at Daedeok-gu, presented on "The Current Status and Cases of Care-Assured Housing." Drawing from the experience of operating "Neulbomchae" in Daedeok-gu, she explained the potential for an integrated model that combines housing and care services.
The panel discussion included Kim Changsu, Director of Galma Senior Welfare Center; Ryu Juyeon, Senior Research Fellow at Daejeon Social Service Institute; Lee Jeongseon, Director of Welfare Policy at Daejeon Metropolitan City; Joo Daesik, Director of Housing Policy; and Park Miran, Team Leader of Elderly Facilities at the Department of Senior Welfare. They shared opinions on the need for community-based customized care housing, elderly-friendly design and barrier-free environments, strengthening the linkage of integrated care and welfare services, and establishing institutional and financial foundations.
Presiding over the forum, Assemblyman Lee Hanyoung emphasized, "Based on today's discussions, we will establish an institutional foundation and develop residential welfare policies that citizens can truly experience."
