Incheon City has designated October this year as the "Month of Culture for Citizens" and will implement the "1,000 Won Culture Ticket" program for 5,400 citizens.
The "1,000 Won Culture Ticket" is designed to allow anyone to enjoy a variety of cultural content, such as performances, sports, and tourism, for just 1,000 won. In particular, customized programs have been separately prepared for culturally marginalized groups, including young children, adolescents, North Korean defectors, children at community child centers, and children in care facilities, significantly lowering the barrier to cultural enjoyment.
The event is divided into three categories: ▲art performances such as the city choir concert, children's classic stage, Citizens' Day music concert, and Korean dance performances; ▲K League soccer match viewing; and ▲city tour bus and Wolmi Sea Train rides.
The art performance category targets 2,600 people including the general public, children, and adolescents, and consists of the city choir's special concert, the children's classic stage "Sancho and Don Quixote," the Citizens' Day music concert, and a Korean dance performance. Tickets can be reserved online starting from the 11th.
The K League soccer match viewing is for 2,000 adolescents aged 13 to 18 and will feature the match between Incheon United and Gyeongnam FC at the Incheon Football Stadium on the 26th of next month. Online reservations will open on the 22nd of next month, and a dedicated viewing area for adolescents will be provided.
In addition, 300 North Korean defectors will be given the opportunity to use the city tour bus for 1,000 won, and 500 children from community child centers and care facilities will be offered rides on the Wolmi Sea Train. Applicants will be collected in advance by each district and the relevant facilities, and participants can board after on-site identity verification.
This year, the city will operate the 1,000 Won Culture Ticket program as a pilot, and from next year, plans to hold it regularly twice a year, linking it to Family Month in May and Citizens' Day in October.
Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, said, "By lowering the barrier to culture, we have enabled citizens to enjoy various content such as culture, sports, and tourism in their daily lives with the thrill of just 1,000 won," adding, "After analyzing citizen satisfaction and policy effectiveness through the pilot operation, we will institutionalize the program starting next year."
