Previously, in May, Hong closed TV Hongkacola and chose to go to the United States, saying, "Thank you for everything so far." Now, after about four months, he has expressed his intention to reactivate his political platform. On the 30th of last month, Hong said, "Because I was in office, I have not been able to appear directly in the past five years," adding, "If TV Hongkacola resumes, I plan to appear in person and conduct it as a talk show where I share stories about the world." Hong emphasized, "With the help of former MBC announcer Lee Sungbae, the newly relaunched TV Hongkacola will be a venue for discussing current affairs based on facts and political convictions, rather than being mired in factional logic like certain YouTubers or some biased media outlets."
Will the Resumption of YouTube Activities Mark a Full-Fledged Return to Politics?
Before embarking on a full-fledged return to politics, Hong responded to supporters' requests to "take care of your health" by saying, "I am still healthy, and I will remain healthy for the next 10 years." When some supporters encouraged him to "become a phoenix and open the gates of the sky," Hong indirectly commented on his current position, saying, "Opening the gates of the sky is not easy."
On the 30th of last month, former Mayor Hong said, "Since I was in office, I have not been able to appear directly for the past five years," and added, "If TV Hongkacola resumes, I plan to appear personally and conduct it in the form of a talk show where we share stories about the world." Meanwhile, in political circles, there is speculation that the resumption of TV Hongkacola activities could signal the start of his full-scale return to politics. Some predict that Hong will observe the political climate within the party and seek ways to form alliances with non-Yoon factions and others. Lee Junseok, leader of the Reform Party, commented about Hong in a YTN radio interview on the 25th of last month, saying, "He seems to believe that, since he is popular among the younger generation, he might be able to break through in his own way."
