Recruitment of Citizen Parade Teams for Jeongjo Filial Piety Parade, Royal Tomb Procession, and Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon
On September 2, the city of Hwaseong in Gyeonggi Province announced that it is recruiting citizen parade participants for the "2025 Jeongjo Filial Piety Culture Festival·Jeongjo Royal Tomb Procession Joint Reenactment," which will be held on the 27th and 28th.
The main programs open for participation include the National Jeongjo Filial Piety Parade Team, the Jeongjo Royal Tomb Procession Citizen Parade Team, and the Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon Citizen Parade Team.
The "National Jeongjo Filial Piety Parade Team" will march a 6.9-kilometer route from Dongtan Central Park to Jeongjo Filial Piety Park on the 28th, where participants will perform acts they have prepared themselves. Ten teams, each consisting of fourth-grade elementary school students or older, regardless of nationality or residence, will be recruited. Applications are open until the 8th. Among the selected teams, outstanding groups will receive up to 3 million won in prize money and a special award from the Mayor of Hwaseong Special City.
The "Jeongjo Royal Tomb Procession Citizen Parade Team," which will be held on the same day, allows participants to choose between a full course (6.9 kilometers) and a half course (3.4 kilometers). The recruitment target is 50 people for the full course and 150 people for the half course, totaling 200 participants. The participation fee is 10,000 won per person. Applications are accepted until the 12th.
The "Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon Citizen Parade Team," to be held on the 27th, will march approximately 1 kilometer from Taean 3 District to Jeongjo Filial Piety Park. "Hyeollyungwon Cheonwon" is an event that reenacts King Jeongjo's 1789 relocation of his father Crown Prince Sado's tomb from Baebongsan in Yangju to Hwaseong (Hwasean). Both individuals and groups are eligible to apply. A total of 265 participants will be recruited until the 12th.
Those wishing to participate can apply via the official Jeongjo Filial Piety Culture Festival Instagram profile link or the official festival website.
Jung Myunggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "The Jeongjo Royal Tomb Procession is not just a historical reenactment, but a living cultural festival where citizens become the main protagonists. I hope many citizens will participate and experience the profound filial piety of King Jeongjo and the historical value of Hwaseong together."
