On September 2, the Korea Institute for Startup & Entrepreneurship Development held a press conference at the CCMM Building in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, to mark the first anniversary of Director Joohyun Cho's inauguration. This event was organized to review the research and management achievements of the past year and to share the institute's future operational direction in response to rapidly changing internal and external environments.

KISED evaluated that over the past year, it has further solidified its position as a policy think tank by conducting policy research that addresses both strategic tasks and urgent issues. The institute also noted that it has enhanced its policy responsiveness through research on mid- to long-term topics such as demographic changes, ESG, and artificial intelligence (AI), as well as policy studies on AI, smart manufacturing, and regional issues, and ad-hoc research on matters like U.S. tariffs and carbon neutrality.

Through the relaunch of "SME Issue N Focus," KISED has disseminated timely research findings to policy experts and related organizations. The institute has also strengthened its role as a hub for policy communication by holding symposiums and a series of forums to proactively assess the new government's policy direction.

In terms of management, the institute has been recognized for its efforts to normalize operations through cost reduction, stabilize finances by expanding commissioned projects, and strengthen its organizational foundation by establishing its mission, vision, core values, and innovating governance.

Looking ahead, KISED has outlined its research directions to include: responding to mid- to long-term paradigm shifts, advancing data-driven policy research, identifying issues based on policy demand, and expanding global collaboration. On the management side, the institute will also pursue financial stabilization, the establishment of an organizational innovation system, and the implementation of a performance-based personnel and incentive system.

Director Joohyun Cho emphasized, "KISED will evolve into a 'Think & Do Tank' that reflects the voices from the policy field and presents actionable solutions. We will further enhance policy effectiveness to contribute to the resilience of our economy and the sustainable growth of small and medium-sized enterprises, venture companies, and small business owners."
