An oxygen gas cylinder exploded at a mold processing factory in Gwangsan District, Gwangju, resulting in the death of a worker in his 50s.

According to the Gwangju Gwangsan Fire Station and other authorities on September 2, at around 4:56 p.m. the previous day, an oxygen gas cylinder exploded at a mold processing workshop in Bia-dong, Gwangsan District, Gwangju. The explosion caused part of the prefabricated building to collapse, and a worker in his 50s, identified as Mr. A, who was inside the workshop, died as a result.
The force of the explosion also damaged three vehicles parked on a nearby road and parts of two factories located across the street. The site of the accident was confirmed to be a one-person workshop operated by Mr. A.
The police and fire authorities are investigating the exact cause of the explosion and the circumstances surrounding the accident.
