Gwangju Office of Education Exhibits Winning Entries from Gender Equality Content Contest

The Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education will hold an exhibition of the winning entries from the "Gender Equality Content (Webtoon & Short-form) Contest" in the main building's first-floor lobby and the lobby of the Educational Research and Information Center until September 12.


According to the Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education on September 2, the contest was held in July for students and teachers in the Gwangju area. A total of 10 works-five short-form videos and five webtoons-were selected as final winners.

The gold prize in the webtoon category was awarded to "Tetonyeo and Egennam" by Kim Sooyoung, a teacher at Mokryeon Elementary School. Kim stated, "I hope this webtoon platform provides an opportunity to reflect on gender stereotypes." The silver prizes went to "Daily Life" by Jeong Jisoo, a student at Jeonja Gongup High School, and "Equality Comes from Opportunity, Respect Comes from Safety" by Kang Daeun, a student at Sungil High School. The bronze prizes were awarded to Lee Solbi, a student at Kyungshin Girls' High School, and Na Kyungyoon, a student at Munhwa Middle School.


In the short-form category, the gold prize went to "Would You Like to Listen? Our Story of Gender Equality" by Yoon Youngyoon, a student at Songwon Girls' High School. The silver prizes were awarded to "Under the Same Sun (Two Shadows)" by Seo Chan, a student at Jeonja Gongup High School, and "You Too" by Jo Eunbi and two other students at Arts Middle School. The bronze prizes were awarded to Lee Dain and four other students at Arts Middle School, and Kim Doyeon, a student at Uncheon Elementary School.


In addition, to mark Gender Equality Week, the city education office is hosting a variety of events under the theme "Gender Equality as Naturally as Breathing." On this day, a gender equality pledge performance titled "Bursting Discrimination, Embracing Equality" will be held in the main building's first-floor lobby.
