Sharing Achievements of the Jeju Seafood Export Agreement
Exploring Ongoing Support and Policy Solutions for Export Challenges
On September 1, the Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) announced that it had held an on-site meeting, "KOSME On the Move," at the Jeju International Convention Center to listen to the voices of local seafood companies in response to the rapidly changing global trade environment.
This meeting was organized to share the achievements of the "Financial business agreement for revitalizing seafood exports in Jeju Province" signed at the end of 2023 among KOSME, Jeju Province, and Suhyup Bank. It also aimed to identify the export challenges faced by companies and to seek ongoing support measures.

The main agenda included: ▲ a report on the achievements of the 2023 financial business agreement; ▲ an introduction to step-by-step support systems for revitalizing export companies; ▲ listening to on-site suggestions and difficulties from export companies; and ▲ discussions on solutions and policy recommendations.
In particular, there was active discussion on a variety of ideas to broaden the export base, such as expanding facility investments, pioneering new export markets in the New Southern region, producing promotional content, and supporting promotional events. Since the agreement, KOSME has provided 10.5 billion won in policy funds to support investments in automated fish sorting and processing lines, while Jeju Province has strengthened the seafood export logistics network by opening a regular container route between Jeju and Qingdao. Additionally, Suhyup Bank has contributed to expanding local infrastructure by providing 1.7 billion won for the purchase of business sites and land. Through such inter-agency cooperation, a solid foundation for export competitiveness in the province has been established.
Chairman Kang Seokjin stated, "We will refine our policies based on the feedback gathered at this meeting and strive to ensure that the achievements of the agreement lead to tangible export growth. Going forward, we will further strengthen cooperation with the government and related organizations to promote the overseas expansion of Jeju seafood companies."
