Now in its second year, the Hoengseong County Residents Singing Contest is hosted and organized by the Hoengseong branch of the Korea Federation of Arts and Culture Organizations (President: Jung Jaeyoung) with support from Hoengseong County, and sponsorship from local companies such as Hoengseong Jungang Saemaeul Geumgo and Queens Folk. The inaugural contest, held last year, saw an enthusiastic response from residents and concluded successfully after a heated competition.
Applications to participate can be submitted through the Hoengseong Arts Council website until the 11th. Any Hoengseong County resident may apply, except registered singers. The preliminary round will take place on the 13th at the Small Theater of the Hoengseong Culture and Arts Center, and those who pass this stage will advance to the finals on October 31.
Prizes will be awarded in four categories: Grand Prize (1 winner) 1 million won, Excellence Award (1 winner) 500,000 won, Merit Award (1 winner) 300,000 won, and Popularity Award (1 winner) 200,000 won. All prize money will be given in local gift certificates, expected to invigorate the local economy.
Additionally, a variety of prize events will be prepared for on-site spectators on the day of the finals, offering extra enjoyment for residents who come to enjoy the performances.
Jung Jaeyoung, President of the Hoengseong Arts Council, stated, "We have prepared a stage where anyone can become the star through singing," adding, "It will be a cultural festival where residents can fully showcase their talents and one that connects generations."
