Gyeonggi Province has created a work manual to facilitate the smooth implementation of the 'Deposit Support Program for Leasehold Housing for Low-Income Households.' This manual is intended to serve as a reference for staff at regional centers and headquarters of each public corporation when carrying out their work.
The Deposit Support Program for Leasehold Housing for Low-Income Households is a project in which Gyeonggi Province provides support for 50% of the standard lease deposit (up to 2.5 million won) for new tenants moving into leasehold housing, with the aim of promoting housing stability for low-income households.
In particular, this year, leasehold housing purchased by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) will prioritize support for senior citizens, reflecting Gyeonggi Province's fiscal conditions.
The support procedure requires prospective tenants wishing to receive support to apply directly to Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation or Korea Land and Housing Corporation. If selected as a beneficiary, the applicant pays the remaining balance after deducting the supported deposit. The amount of the deposit supported is provided as an interest-free loan for up to 20 years and must be repaid in a lump sum upon move-out.
Through the creation and distribution of this manual, it is expected that staff at regional centers and headquarters of each public corporation will be able to better understand the program and thus facilitate the smoother implementation of the Deposit Support Program for Leasehold Housing for Low-Income Households.
Kim Tae-su, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, said, "By distributing the work manual, we hope to enhance the understanding of staff in charge of applications so that we can better reach our residents. We will continue to monitor performance to ensure that more households can benefit from this program in the future."
