On September 1, Yeoju City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will conduct a public inspection of the land readjustment plan in relation to the Changdong District Urban Development Project.
The Changdong District Urban Development Project was initially limited to only a portion of the designated area (54,552 square meters) due to restrictions under the Metropolitan Area Reorganization Planning Act. However, following discussions with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as part of the win-win agreement for the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster, the project is now being promoted for the entire area (88,614 square meters). During the public inspection period for the land readjustment plan, landowners can submit various opinions regarding the location and area of their readjusted land. Yeoju City stated that it plans to reflect residents' opinions as much as possible when designating the planned readjustment sites.
In addition, construction is proceeding in parallel with the establishment of the land readjustment plan, and the project is scheduled for completion by December 2027. Upon completion, the project will accommodate a planned population of 1,192 people and 522 households (including 461 apartment units and 61 single-family homes). The area will feature infrastructure such as roads, green spaces, children's parks, and off-street parking lots, as well as underground urban gas and electricity supply, creating a pleasant urban environment. Furthermore, a pedestrian network connected to Soyangcheon Stream will be established, creating a bridge-like space that links the old downtown with the new city center around Yeoju Station.
