Resolution Rally Unites Civic Groups
to Build Consensus for Attracting International Flights
The Wonju City Social Organizations Council of Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province (Chairperson: Won Eunhyang) is holding the "Wonju Airport International Airport Upgrade Resolution Rally" on the 1st at the Ruby Hall of Hotel Inter-Burgo Wonju.

This resolution rally was organized to bring together the wishes of civic and social organizations in Wonju for the introduction of international flights at Wonju Airport, and to widely inform Wonju citizens, ahead of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's confirmation of the "7th Comprehensive Airport Development Plan," which will be released at the end of this year.
The event will take place prior to the "Wonju Development Strategy Forum for a City of 500,000 Residents," which is being held on the same day. More than 150 participants, including heads of major institutions and organizations as well as members of civic and social groups, are expected to attend and reaffirm their commitment to upgrading Wonju Airport to international status.
The program will begin with an explanation of the initiative's background by Kim Ilheon, President of the Wonju City Veterans Association, followed by Chairperson Won Eunhyang of the Wonju City Social Organizations Council reading the resolution. There will also be a performance chanting the slogan, "Wonju Airport: Gateway to the Central Inland! Let’s Usher in the Era of International Flights."
Chairperson Won Eunhyang stated, "This resolution rally will serve as an important opportunity to build consensus among Wonju's 360,000 citizens," and added, "Civic and social organizations will continue to actively cooperate so that the government’s plan includes measures for attracting international flights."
Meanwhile, the Wonju City Social Organizations Council is composed of nine local groups, including the Women's Association Council, Korea Freedom Federation, Saemaeul Association, Council for the Right Living Movement, Resident Autonomy Council, Volunteer Crime Prevention Federation, Future Agricultural Managers Association, Veterans Association, and the Community Leaders Council. Through various initiatives, the council is dedicated to the development of the region.
