The meeting was attended by Kang Suhyun, mayor of Yangju City, Han Sangmin, a member of the city council, other distinguished guests, and residents of Jangheung-myeon. The event proceeded in the following order: a report on the activities of the first Residents' Autonomy Committee, selection of the 2026 autonomy plan, and a family movie screening event as a village agenda project for 2025.
The 2026 autonomy plan was proposed through the collection of residents' opinions and committee meetings, with three agenda items suggested: the Maenaemi Cherry Blossom Road Festival, the "Cultural Festival in Jangheung in Some Autumn," and "Movie Night Under the Stars."
As a result of both online and on-site voting held from August 1 to 18, the "Maenaemi Cherry Blossom Road Festival" was ultimately selected as the top priority.
This general meeting expanded resident participation by offering an online streaming service alongside the on-site event, receiving an enthusiastic response both in person and online.
Chairman Park Hyobae stated, "Thanks to the interest and participation of many residents, from discovering proposals to selecting the autonomy plan, we were able to successfully conclude the general meeting. We will do our utmost to ensure that the selected autonomy plan for next year is carried out smoothly."
Mayor Kang Suhyun remarked in his congratulatory address, "I find it meaningful that this event has provided an opportunity for residents to directly participate in shaping the future of Jangheung-myeon. I hope this general meeting will serve as a starting point for creating a better Jangheung-myeon."
Meanwhile, the Jangheung-myeon Residents' Autonomy Committee, which was launched in January last year, currently has 25 members. As part of this year's village agenda project, the committee plans to hold a "Family Movie Screening" event in October.
