The Integrated Care Center for Severely Disabled People with Developmental Disabilities opened in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province on September 1.
Gyeonggi Province announced that on this day, it opened its third integrated care center in Ansan, providing 24-hour one-on-one care for people with the most severe developmental disabilities.
The integrated care service for people with the most severe developmental disabilities offers care to individuals aged 18 or older but under 65 who have intellectual or autistic disabilities, exhibit severe challenging behaviors, and face significant limitations in daily living and communication skills, making it difficult for them to use existing social services.

After receiving services at the integrated care center from Monday to Friday, participants return home on weekends. This approach helps boost self-esteem and community participation opportunities for the individuals themselves, while offering caregivers a chance to maintain a normal daily life and reflect on their own lives.
Kim Hoon, Director of Welfare at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "We expect the opening of the integrated care center to serve as the foundation for the social role of '360-degree care,' where necessary care is available anywhere," adding, "We will continue to strengthen our support system going forward."
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province opened its first center in Paju in December last year and its second center in Suwon in April this year.
