Shinan County in South Jeolla Province is offering visitors a special taste of autumn as the season deepens. The county announced on September 1 that it will hold a "Special Exhibition of Podocarpus Bonsai" from the 2nd to the 21st at the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden in Aphae-eup.

This special exhibition, held under the theme "Rediscovered as a Symbol of Beauty, Vitality, and Hope," presents a rare opportunity to appreciate the finest Podocarpus bonsai works in Korea all in one place. Of particular note, a Podocarpus bonsai believed to be 2,000 years old will be unveiled, drawing significant attention from visitors.

The Podocarpus tree has long been known as the "tree that never dies," renowned for its longevity spanning hundreds to thousands of years. Its elegant form and remarkable vitality have made it a beloved species in the art of bonsai for generations.

A county official stated, "At the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden, visitors can enjoy not only Podocarpus bonsai but also masterpieces of various species such as pine, hornbeam, and azalea. In addition, the pampas grass swaying in the autumn breeze and the purple Liriope flowers will create a rich and vibrant visual experience."

Meanwhile, following last year's success, the "2025 Korea Bonsai Exhibition" is also scheduled to take place at the 1004 Island Bonsai Garden in November, further raising expectations among bonsai art enthusiasts.
