On September 1, the KOSPI Index, which started the day lower, has extended its losses during intraday trading and is now trading around the 3,130 level.
As of 2:10 p.m. on this day, the KOSPI Index was trading at 3,135.02, down 50.99 points (1.60%) from the previous day. The index opened at 3,164.58, down 21.43 points (0.67%), and has been widening its decline in the afternoon. Foreign investors have sold 259.9 billion won worth of shares, while institutional investors have sold 155.5 billion won. Individual investors have purchased 326.7 billion won worth of shares on their own.

Among the large-cap stocks, Hanwha Aerospace (up 3.62%), Hanwha Ocean (up 3.39%), HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (up 1.72%), and Hyundai Mobis (up 0.94%) saw gains. In contrast, SK Hynix (down 5.02%), Doosan Enerbility (down 3.89%), Samsung Electronics (down 2.94%), Kakao (down 2.56%), HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (down 2.50%), Shinhan Financial Group (down 2.45%), Samsung Electronics Preferred (down 2.12%), and KB Financial Group (down 1.02%) declined.
Declines were pronounced in the semiconductor, chemical, and financial holding company sectors. In particular, the semiconductor sector faced multiple negative factors, including the U.S. revoking the "Verified End User (VEU)" status for the Chinese subsidiaries of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, and weakness in the artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor sector in the U.S. market.
At the same time, the KOSDAQ Index was down 14.33 points (1.80%) from the previous day at 782.58. The index had opened at 795.30, down 1.61 points (0.20%), and has continued to widen its losses. Foreign investors sold 85.3 billion won worth of shares, while individual investors and institutional investors have bought 82.2 billion won and 17.4 billion won worth of shares, respectively.
Among the top KOSDAQ stocks by market capitalization, Hugel (up 4.12%), Alteogen (up 3.88%), HLB (up 2.25%), JYP Entertainment (up 1.51%), and SM Entertainment (up 1.30%) gained. Meanwhile, EO Technics (down 5.67%), Caregen (down 5.40%), LIG ChemBio (down 5.16%), Peptron (down 3.88%), PharmaResearch (down 3.60%), Silicon Two (down 3.12%), Samchundang Pharm (down 3.12%), ABL Bio (down 2.73%), Rainbow Robotics (down 2.38%), Lino Industrial (down 2.02%), Ecopro (down 1.68%), and Ecopro BM (down 1.40%) declined.
