Busan University Student Startup Launches Beta Service of Mobile Game "Korea" Linking Local Tourism

Doyakmin Team from Pukyong National University Launches on September 8
A GPS-Based Territory Game Integrating Tourism

A university student startup based in Busan has developed a mobile game called "Korea," which combines local tourism with economic revitalization, and will launch its beta service on September 8.

The "Doyakmin" team, a startup club at Pukyong National University, successfully launched their business by developing this game, which is designed as a GPS-based territory-capturing game. In the game, players can capture local buildings as characters and receive coupons that can be used at actual stores in those areas.

The initial beta service area will cover the major university districts in Busan, including the campuses of Pukyong National University and Kyungsung University. Capturing campus buildings and other locations will provide players with various rewards. There will also be prize events for participating students and faculty members. After the beta service, the team plans to expand the service to major commercial districts and tourist attractions throughout Busan.

Users who wish to participate in the "Korea" beta service can search for "Korea" on the Google Play Store and pre-register (for Android users), or apply via the Doyakmin website (for iOS users).

The Doyakmin team was founded by Jung Minyoung, a student from the Department of Business Administration at Pukyong National University, and Kim Minseo, a pre-medical student at Gyeongsang National University. This year, they established a corporation. By combining gaming with local economic revitalization through a gamification strategy, they have won several startup competitions since last year and were selected as a "Preliminary Tourism Venture" by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization this year, gaining significant attention.

Jung Minyoung, CEO of Doyakmin, stated, "Korea allows users to experience Busan’s tourist attractions and local businesses through the game, which is expected to help revitalize the local economy. We also hope our example will encourage more startups among local communities and university students."

Pukyong National University is actively supporting students’ entrepreneurship education and startup activities through related departments, including the Southeast Region Startup Education Innovation Leading University Project Group.
