“Advanced Bio, Gyeongbuk Opening the Future”
Conferences, Exhibition, and Investment Meetings
Pohang City will open the 2025 Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo on September 11 at the Pohang Change Up Ground and POSCO International Center.
This year’s event, themed “Advanced Bio, Gyeongbuk Opening the Future,” will feature a variety of programs over three days, including themed conferences, an exhibition, and business investment meetings.
At the opening ceremony, a work agreement will be signed to promote technology development and workforce training in the advanced regenerative medicine sector, leveraging Pohang’s outstanding research capabilities and infrastructure.
Additionally, James Yoo, Deputy Director of the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine and a world-renowned authority in regenerative medicine, will deliver a keynote speech on “Establishing Strategies for the Production and Delivery Systems of Regenerative Medicine Products,” raising expectations for the event.
The conferences will be organized by POSTECH, Pohang Industry Promotion Agency, Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Research Institute, and Pohang Technopark, and will be held in four divisions: bio and pharmaceuticals, food tech, hemp, and green bio.
Leading domestic and international bio companies, research institutes, and academic experts will participate to share the latest research achievements and present a future blueprint for the bio industry.
The exhibition and experience programs will also be plentiful. The expo venue will feature themed pavilions from Gyeongsangbuk-do and Pohang City, as well as exhibition halls with participation from industry, academia, research, and government, introducing the latest trends in the bio industry.
For citizens and visitors, a variety of hands-on programs will be offered, including a stamp tour, moss terrarium making, and business DNA keychain crafting. The event is expected to be a festival that combines both expertise and public engagement.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, “I hope that the Gyeongbuk Bio Industry Expo, held in Pohang, which is fostering the bio industry as a new growth engine, will serve as a turning point for Gyeongbuk and Pohang to become global bio hubs. I ask for the active interest and participation of our citizens.”
