The Asahi Shimbun reported from Dandong on September 1 that security in the city has been heightened, interpreting this as a precautionary measure in anticipation of Kim passing through on a special train.

The report also stated, "On the night of the 30th, police vehicles stopped at a hotel near the station, and officials transported devices that appeared to be printers and other equipment into the hotel," adding that this seemed to be a move in preparation for security on that day.

Furthermore, the newspaper explained that some hotels in Dandong have restricted foreign guests, with the control period differing by hotel, lasting until either the 3rd or the 5th. Some hotels reportedly responded that "foreigners other than North Koreans are not allowed to stay."

However, the report noted that "the specific schedule and means of transportation for Kim's visit to China have not been disclosed," and recalled that "during his previous four visits to China, he traveled to Beijing via Dandong by train on two occasions."
